A flour mill built in Hemet around 1894, at a cost of $20,000, could turn out 50 barrels of flour a day, the only mill of its kind operating in the San Jacinto Valley at the time. It's a fitting historical footnote for a packaging equipment conversation: flour is exactly the granular product that auger fillers and multihead weighers were built to portion. After a railroad spur reached Hemet from Riverside, the town became the trading center for that valley's agriculture, moving citrus, apricots, peaches, olives, and walnuts to market. Lake Hemet Dam followed in 1895. It kept that growth watered. None of that milling and orchard infrastructure survives as active manufacturing today. Hemet's economy now runs on its school district, hospital, county government, and retail; the closest thing to an industrial employer among the city's top ranks is a recreational-vehicle manufacturer with roughly 251 employees.
If you're handling that kind of granular product, EliteFill auger and powder fillers portion flour, feed, and other bulk ingredients into bags or pouches at a consistent weight for you, plus EcoBagger premade pouch machines for producers packaging pre-measured product without a full form-fill-seal line. Hemet's own manufacturing base has shifted well past milling, but the wider San Jacinto Valley and Inland Empire still handle agricultural and bulk product that needs this kind of equipment, and PLAN IT supplies and services it across California. There's no PLAN IT location in Hemet, but our team works with producers throughout the region on auger filling, pouch machines, and the ongoing support those lines need.
