Amherst was carved out by New York State in 1818, but it was the Erie Canal's opening in 1825 that turned the town industrial, powering grist mills, saw mills and other factories along Ellicott Creek through the rest of the nineteenth century. That era is long gone. Modern packaging equipment demand in Amherst looks different from that milling-era base: the town's economy has shifted toward corporate headquarters and higher education. A public utility and a national self-storage company both keep their headquarters in the Amherst village of Williamsville, and the town also hosts the north campus of a Tier 1 public research university. What manufacturing remains sits inside the broader Buffalo-Niagara Falls metro, a region with its own history in steel, grain milling and automotive production.
We have no facility in Amherst and don't claim one, but we supply and integrate packaging machinery for food and beverage producers across New York, including the Buffalo-Niagara region. A food or beverage operation supplying the corporate and institutional employers clustered around Williamsville still needs a bagger and a case packer sized to its volume, and we build both. A Mars Series VFFS bagger forms, fills and seals bags on the dry-goods or snack side of that line, and an automatic case packer cartons the finished product before it ships. We equip both ends of that line, from a plant just starting out to one running multiple shifts.
