Longmont has run food and precision manufacturing side by side since a 1950 turkey plant and a 1960s tech campus set the tone. We supply the packaging equipment its food and beverage producers run today.
Longmont has run food and precision manufacturing side by side since a 1950 turkey plant and a 1960s tech campus set the tone. We supply the packaging equipment its food and beverage producers run today.
Longmont has been putting whole turkeys on grocery shelves since 1950, when a turkey-processing plant on southern Main Street took in truckload after truckload of live birds for processing; the plant closed in 2011 after a series of owners. A computing-technology manufacturer built a large manufacturing campus near Longmont in the 1960s, well before the turkey plant's final years. Manufacturing is Longmont's single largest industry today, and packaging equipment plays directly into that: 7,188 workers build products across the city as of 2022, more than work in professional and scientific services or retail trade combined, led by a hard-drive and precision-storage manufacturer that ranks as the city's third-largest employer.
That manufacturing base gives us plenty to work with in Longmont. The precision-storage plant's output and a large-format printing company among the city's top ten employers both run lines that need reliable case-erecting and palletizing equipment to keep pace with production. The turkey plant itself is gone, but the frozen and refrigerated packaging problem it ran for decades hasn't left the area: a dairy, bakery, or packaged-food line running cold or high-volume production in Longmont today needs that same category of equipment, Mars Series vertical form fill seal (VFFS) machines and automatic case packers built for it. Checkweighers and metal detection add a food-safety check to those lines without slowing them down. We stock that full range of equipment for Colorado food and beverage manufacturers, backed by a complete solutions lineup.
