Repentigny's grain-handling equipment makers already build augers and elevators for local farms. PLAN IT brings that same mechanical know-how to powder and pouch packaging, serving Quebec producers without a Repentigny office.
Today, Repentigny is home to a nearly 50-year-old manufacturer of grain-handling equipment, building silos, augers, conveyors, and elevators for farms out of a plant in the city's Le Gardeur industrial park. The company employs more than 200 people and recently won city approval for a new 2,595-square-metre building, a $2.3-million expansion expected to add about 50 jobs on top of the 150 already on staff. That kind of bulk-material handling sits right next to packaging automation. Augers move grain the same way our EliteFill auger fillers move powders and granular ingredients into bags and pouches, just further down the production line. Repentigny hasn't always looked like this. The city spent its first 250 years as an agricultural community before growing into the Montreal suburb it is now, and that farm heritage is resurfacing in a new form. Repentigny and neighbouring L'Assomption are putting more than $414 million into Zone Agtech, a 15-square-kilometre innovation district meant to house 100 to 150 agtech and plant-bioproduct companies and over 1,200 jobs.
As Zone Agtech's plant-bioproduct and agtech companies come online, they'll need equipment to fill, weigh, and bag powders, granules, and premade pouches at production scale, not pilot-plant scale, exactly the growth our fillers and packaging lines are built for. Our EliteFill auger and powder fillers handle exactly that kind of bulk ingredient, and our EcoBagger premade-pouch machines package the finished product into pouches ready for retail or foodservice. PLAN IT doesn't keep a plant in Repentigny; we ship and support equipment for producers here from our Toronto and Tampa operations, the same setup covering the rest of Quebec. If you're planning a line for a new Repentigny facility, or scaling up an existing one to meet Zone Agtech's growth targets, we can help you spec the fillers and packaging machines before the building is even finished.
