Rio Rancho makes silicon wafers that end up in phones and computers worldwide, inside one of the most automated factories in the country. PLAN IT brings that automation standard to packaging lines for the manufacturers and distributors around it.
A fully automated, $2 billion semiconductor fabrication plant put Rio Rancho on the map when it opened in 2002, one of the largest facilities of its kind anywhere and the first in its network to manufacture 300mm silicon wafers, an industry-standard leap in chip-making scale. That plant runs on the same automated-production logic that packaging automation brings to any high-volume line, which is why Rio Rancho makes a product almost everyone touches without knowing it: the chips running phones, laptops, and cars worldwide. It replaced an earlier facility that had run since 1980, and that original buildout drove Rio Rancho's population up roughly tenfold in a single decade, fast enough that the city didn't incorporate until 1981, a year after the city's first fab opened.
That precision culture shows up in the manufacturers and distributors that supply Rio Rancho's workforce and the wider Albuquerque metro, and it sets a high bar for how their packaging lines should run. We build the end-of-line equipment those operations need to match it: a case former erects the shipping cases before a case packer loads them, and a PackMaster cobot palletizer, our robotic palletizing line, stacks and wraps the finished pallet for outbound freight with the same repeatability a chip fab expects from its own equipment. That standard travels. You run the production floor; we make sure what leaves it holds the tolerance the fab next door already set. For manufacturers and distributors working around Rio Rancho, that means less manual handling at the exact point where product moves from production to distribution. We scope and integrate that equipment consultatively, and we can have a line production-ready before the next freight contract renews, the same pace Rio Rancho's fab already set.
