Trois-Rivières sits on the St. Lawrence River roughly halfway between Montreal and Quebec City. The city bills itself as Canada's oldest industrial city: its first foundry, established in 1738, produced iron and cast goods for a century and a half, much of it shipped across the Atlantic to supply the French navy.
