West Jordan's economy grew out of an 1851 tannery and an 1850s sawmill before the Bingham Canyon Mine reshaped the valley. We supply the packaging equipment food and beverage producers across the Salt Lake Valley run on.
West Jordan's industrial story starts in 1849, when its first settlers built the local economy on farming, timber, and mining. Archibald Gardner put up one of the valley's earliest sawmills here in 1850; the mill site is now Gardner Village, a shopping complex that draws more visitors than any factory left in the city. The first leather tannery west of the Mississippi River opened here in 1851, and the Bingham Canyon Mine, the world's largest human-made excavation, sits in West Jordan's eastern foothills, long before the valley's food and beverage plants needed the kind of packaging equipment we supply today. Little of that manufacturing base survives: West Jordan is now one of Utah's fastest-growing cities, with an economy built on retail at Jordan Landing and on government and regional services.
Food and beverage producers with real packaging needs cluster elsewhere in the Salt Lake Valley, running plants for snacks, powders, and frozen foods at real volume. We don't run an office out of West Jordan, but we do keep equipment moving through the valley: Mars Series VFFS baggers for bagging those same products, and automatic case packers for finishing them into shipping cases without adding a second shift. Producers across the valley bring their own recipes and line speeds, and we know how to match equipment to that pace, whatever it is. Our Utah location page and food and beverage industry page dig deeper into the market, the VFFS machine category and automatic case packer lineup break down the equipment itself, and our solutions page rounds out the catalog we install for valley producers.
