Today, Repentigny is home to a nearly 50-year-old manufacturer of grain-handling equipment, building silos, augers, conveyors, and elevators for farms out of a plant in the city's Le Gardeur industrial park. The company employs more than 200 people and recently won city approval for a new 2,595-square-metre building, a $2.3-million expansion expected to add about 50 jobs on top of the 150 already on staff. That kind of bulk-material handling sits right next to packaging automation. Repentigny and neighbouring L'Assomption are putting more than $414 million into Zone Agtech, a 15-square-kilometre innovation district meant to house 100 to 150 agtech and plant-bioproduct companies and over 1,200 jobs.
