Regional economic-development groups call Suffolk the Caffeine Capital of Virginia, and the packaging equipment behind that nickname has to keep pace: ground and whole-bean coffee goes into bags, cans, and single-serve packets around the clock. One coffee roaster here processes enough beans every day for roughly 20 million cups, running out of a 355,000-square-foot plant that has operated on that same Suffolk site since 1986. A second plant in the city runs liquid coffee concentrate rather than beans, and a food-distribution company recently leased 358,738 square feet at a new logistics facility to move product like it out to retailers. In 2022 the roasting plant's owner committed to a $29 million expansion adding roughly 79 jobs, on top of a distribution center, opened the year before, built to handle bulk and e-commerce coffee orders alike.
You know what it takes to keep a 355,000-square-foot roasting floor running since 1986; we know how to package what comes off it. For a granular product moving at that volume, EliteFill auger fillers are the workhorse, metering ground coffee by weight into bags and pouches and holding tight tolerances on a product that clumps and dusts more than most powders. EcoBagger and RotoBagger premade pouch machines handle single-serve formats, along with case packers that box finished bags for the pallet before they leave the dock, all shipped in from Virginia stock rather than a Suffolk plant we don't have. Scale batch size as a coffee roaster, or pack private-label grounds under contract as a distribution operation, and you get integration handled directly. Support continues after the machine is running. That beats sourcing equipment piece by piece from three different vendors.
